I have had a pair of these on my MKIII commando since day one since 1995.They have always sounded nice and throaty but not raucous loud like the majority of harley's that come blasting by my place.
I have examined these with a critical eye to envision the physics that make them sound as they do. I conclude it is the size and sequence that controls the pulse energy through the chambers that are contained within. This principal is what makes me assume the same thing happens on the commando "peashooters" that are manufactured cowboy style and no particular engineering science is employed to make them work in other than with a haphazard sonic response.
I own a set that I completely disassembled and several other sets that cover most of the range of production that I am aware of. I am discounting entirely the REPOP "Dunstall named" items for now.
