If you can make it to Dave's text session today, Saturday the 15th, that would be the best way to get advice on the head gasket. I would bet Dave would have the correct gasket so you can see exactly what you need to install it. You'll also get some tips on how to set everything up correctly. It's also going to be a good day for a full ride.

I put a flame ring head gasket on my 75 in 1998 and have had no issues. That being said, I have heard some comments from Norton aficionado's who had issues. I would ask Dave for his thoughts.

Hi Alpo
Come see the group some time...
One thing about flame rings is they are not consistant. years ago I loved them since they were uncoated and I could do head swap-outs several times with one gasket. Then they came out with coated flame rings that had some type of shiney thermoset glue on them. Once heated that was final. You have to break them off and scrape the surfaces to prep for another try. I HATE them. :woohoo:
Now I keep an eye out for NOS old style.
I always had used permatex 518 gasket eliminator around the push rod tunnel and drain back hole.

OT:

Dave, I intend to get to a meeting this year as it has been a long time. I also talked with Mike F. about going to the Nationals this year.
