I'm a distant member of the Norton Club. Now living in CA.
Have a question that I'd appreciate your inputs/help with:
I replaced my assimilator with a solid state type. Was replaced because my previous one was the bi metallic, original type and I assumed it failed because my red light was on at above idle RPMs and the output of the alternator was 12.5 to 14 volts at 2 to 4K RPMs. 1974 850.
Replaced with the above mentioned SSD assimilator and all was good. Light on at idle and off at anything above 1K RPM. Lasted about 3 months of just a few hundred miles. Now the red light is on at all RPMs and alternator output is still above 12 and more like 14 at higher RPMs.
Is there a way for me to test the assimilator to determine if it's faulty?
Ideas on how to resolve?
Appreciate any inputs. I searched the club website but failed to find my way to the sections that may have the answers.
Thanks,
Michael Sehnert who once was from Arizona!

I could not google find anything on SSD assimilator. However being probably a potted assembly I would check the cleanliness of the power, ground and light circuits.
Othewise a bench test with variable power supply and instrumentation would probably be needed.
