Good evening all. Got the ignition switch and warning light console wired and ready to reassemble on my 75 MK3. When fitting the ignition switch into the rear of the console there is a split collar that goes over the narrow end of the switch, and a very thin wavy washer as well. I don't remember the order of assembly. Parts manual and service manual give no clue. If I remember correctly the split collar slides over the end of the switch, and the wavy washer is slid on next, so that when the switch is assembled to the console, the wavy washer is between the split collar and the console. Is this correct? What purpose does it serve? Is it a shim that controls how far the switch can be drawn into the console by the nut that secures it from the opposite side of the console? Perhaps Norton couldn't control the length of the split collar and needed a shim occasionally? Anyway, any info on which goes first, the collar or the washer would be helpful. If no luck will fit washer between collar and console. Thanks in advance. Mike the Greek

I know on the original 75 dash, the ignition switch has a rubber boot on top. Under that is a threaded nut with a "collar" to hold the boot. Hope this helps.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for that. This is how I think the order of assembly goes Never mind For some reason the site won't let me add a pdf or a jpg (says a 47KB file exceeds the size limits WTF???) I'll send it to your phone. . Mike the Greek |
