I keep draining my battery, is there a way to check the alternator output other than at the battery. (I was thinking you should be able to check the 2 wires coming directly out of the alternator with some type of AC meter)
When I check the output at the battery it's all great 13.8 and 13.5 with all electrical "stuff" on (lights directional's etc.). Any suggestions? |

Hi Dan
To really find out what is going on you need 4 pieces of equipment. An AC volt meter, AC current meter, DC voltmeter and DC current/ampmeter. Typically the lucas test call for a 100+watt 1 OHM resistor. Would have been good topic for a tech session Only one meter will only give you very incomplete information and the ability to guess what "might" be going on assuming you are a seasoned electrical guy. Proper diagnosis....NO Call me if you want a tech session. |

A tech session sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately I will be traveling for the next 2 weeks and the following weeks I have a carpentry job to finish. Can we look at the first Saturday in November?

There's a good likely hood I can do one the 4th. I think I have everything I need for a pretty thorough demonstration. |
