I am replacing my exhaust system on my MKIII 850. The headers are 1-3/8" but flare out at the head where the exhaust nut is snug around the pipe flare....So, do I use the conical gasket--flat side against the header---curved side in the head so that it will seal
if the pipe is off slightly. Or do I need a different type gasket or nut? Rod |

That flange is a typical flat 750 style. It needs a 750 style donut ring gasket that will become flat on installation. Your 850 exhaust rose will have threads that are to short to allow bottoming out.You will not need any 850 or MKIII hardware
So an early 750 nut will be needed. In 1973, the only year for a 750 thread length rose, that is also of big fin style... like the 850s, could be used for a cosmetically correct.exhaust rose. BCS had these on sale a while back. I don't think they knew what they were! |
